Through a Pilot's Eyes

I wrote this for a Dear, Dear friend of mine, Dr. Morris Wortman. He's been extremely supportive of my writing and introduced me to Brenda J. Washington (Photographer Extraordinaire) She is a fantastic photographer and a wonderful person. You can Visit Brenda:
to see more of her wonderful photography.
We teamed up together for our first project. I wrote the poem for Moe with Brenda's photo's in mind. Brenda and I  did some creative work with Rick at Scale 2: Display and Graphic Solutions
(visit:    http://www.scale2.com      and you can see all the other things he's done)
Rick was instrumental with the design and outlay of the project. The finished size of the "poster" was about 20" X 30" .  He was so helpful and as you can see, the project came out Magnificent!! So here goes our first collaborative work....
For the "kid" in all of us..... Here's Through a Pilot's  Eyes (click on picture to enlarge)

Through A Pilot's Eyes
Days of possibilities
Fill up each morning sky
A question always asked
"I wonder just how high?"
Childhood dreams come flooding back
With each rising of the sun
Stretched out arms are my wings
I take off at a run
I soar over sidewalk cracks
My valleys, great, below
Jumping over rocks I see
Above mountain tops I go
Instead of arms outstretched back when
Today my wings are real
Yet when I fly my heart still beats
Like a kid again I feel
Over peaks and valleys
I really now do soar
Zooming through cloud figures
Like a child, I explore
Excitement fills my heart and soul
Of that there are no lies
Each day's a possibility
Through a Pilot's eyes
With Love and Appreciation
for a Dear Friend

The very real tears in my eyes are tears of wonder and delight. I think most kids had a "flying" dream ... or was it just a dream ?????

I used to float. Not high, just above the treetops. Your beautiful poem brought back the joy I always woke up with.

I, too, remember dreams of flying over the treetops of my home. Those dreams were so real I always wondered if maybe I hadn't flown over the trees in my dreams.

I can still see how the trees looked as I looked down on them.

this is wonderful Nina...I love how you wove in a child's perspective with adult experience..the way they are never far apart...we are always both at once...imagination and memory allowing time to flow in a continuous circle.

great photos, I will have to stop by your friend's site!

Thank you all for your wonderful support. I've been on a writing hiatus, lots of thoughts but not making time to write. This happens to me this time of year. The whole winter hibernating thing. I get cumffy and just curl up and relax; especially after busy days at work. Old patterns try to return but I encourage the new patterns and invite them to continue to grow.
I've gotten back to basics recently and that has been rejuvenating. I feel the fires burning again. Winter is always a time for reflection, inner growth, a re-assessment of sorts, and eventually renewal.

Thank you all for being my encouragement and Joy. Though I have not "met" you, I feel I "know" you and we are friends. For that I am eternally Grateful.

Blessings to you and yours my friends. Life Is Good!

Love and Light,
Nina P

Beautiful post, Nina, as always. I am so impressed with your talent. How nice to be able to combine your work with others work. Beautiful.

My husband's family is full of pilots. They are indeed a special group that deserve to be acknowledged as well as you have done. xo
